LESSON FOUR
PowerPoint Presentations.
TIME: 50 minutes.
VELS: Literacy - Speaking and Listening. ICT- Visual thinking (For creating).
GROUP SIZE: Groups of 3.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY.
Students will construct a power point presentation about ‘What makes a harmonious community’ or ‘What values underpin their community’. They will take photographs around the school community and use these images in their power point presentation.
Student will be placed into their groups; one camera will be given to each group. The students will have 10 minutes to take photographs around the school of what they believe is a positive school community or that represents the values of the school community, under teacher supervision. The students will go back to the classroom; they will have 5 minutes to transfer the images from the camera to the computer, working as a team. There are 6 computers in the classroom, and there is a computer lab available for the students to use. Students will have 15 minutes to produce a 3 - 4 minute power point presentation on what values underpin their school community, using Microsoft Office. The final 20 minutes of the lesson is for each group to give an oral presentation to the whole class.
The teacher could select some of the power points and publish them on the school intranet.
ASSESSMENT. Teacher observes each groups presentation, taking notes on how the students presented there work, there planning and how they worked as a team.
